Asia Pacific Schools Subang Jaya

International Curriculum

An international education at Asia Pacific School gives your child a head starts towards success in a highly globalised world. Our holistic, student-focused approach is based on the understanding that effective learning is more than just academic achievement. We acknowledge that every child has different learning styles, experiences, expectations, and needs. As such, each child progresses differently.

At the same time, we also recognise that academic performance is a key indicator of students’ ability to learn. Thus, our aim is to create a learning environment that helps our students develop self-confidence and an attitude of excellence so that they are motivated to learn independently

We are proud that our approach has resulted in strong academic outcomes, with our students ranking among the best in the country.

The Early Years

The Early Years programme encourages children to learn and grow in a stimulating and nurturing environment. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, based on the English National Curriculum, encourages well-rounded development that includes personal and social skills, and physical development.

Students as young as three years old are encouraged to let their creative and curious minds lead their daily learning through purposeful play activities. With this play-based approach, our thematic curriculum lets children experience becoming knights and princesses, community helpers, world travellers, archaeologists and more, while discovering a world of learning in the process.

Primary

The child-centred, thematic approach of the Primary years’ curriculum ensures that children in Key Stage 1 (5 – 7 years old) and Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 years old) are fully engaged and enjoy the learning process. We also form strong social and emotional bonds with students and parents, as a supportive environment helps our children’s development into successful, confident, effective, and responsible learners. Our assessments are designed to ensure that each child is on track with their academic goals while helping them develop a ‘can do’ attitude towards their learning.

Secondary

Students in the Secondary years’ programme, which includes Key Stage 3 (Year 7 – Year 9) and Key Stage 4 (Year 10 & Year 11), work towards attaining their IGCSEs. The aim at this stage is to develop learners who can succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. This is balanced with rigorous academic requirements and a growing expectation to be independent, responsible learners. Teachers work closely with students, mentoring them in this crucial process of growth.

Malaysian National Curriculum

Blending local and international approaches to education, the Malaysian National Curriculum at APS prepares Malaysian students for success, armed with a global perspective. While our priority is to enable students to achieve academic excellence in taking their UPSR, PT3 & SPM examinations, our focus goes beyond just classroom study and centres on developing well-rounded learners who excel academically, pastorally, and socially.

In addition to our excellent academic results we are one of the few schools licensed to conduct the Dual Language Programme, where the primary medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia, and Mathematics and Science is taught in English.

Primary

The Primary years in the Malaysian National Curriculum at APS are based on the Malaysian National Primary School Standard Curriculum, or Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR), from Standard 1 to 6 (from ages 7-12). Students are assessed under the Pelaporan Pentaksiran Sekolah Rendah (PPSR) which comprises the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR); Pentaksiran Bilik Darjah (PBD); Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum (PAJSK) and Pentaksiran Psikometrik (PPsi) as per the Malaysian Ministry of Education’s requirements.

Secondary

Students then move on to the Secondary programme to further build upon the foundations already laid, studying the Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Menengah (KBSM). Students are assessed under Pentaksiran Berasaskan Sekolah (PBS), leading to the Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) examination in Form 3 and culminating in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination in Form 5.

I will not recommend my friends to work in this school, the management was mess and tough, the principle think he is king of school and very proud, talkative and bad self emotional management. HR is low efficiency and they are lier, always break their words and no increment and bonus for teachers. Teacher's turn over are very high. last choice!

My daughter was registered in pre-school. We didn’t have good experience with them. Her teacher was horrible with negative statements and because of that my child lost her confidence. I gave their headmaster feedback but unfortunately they didn’t care.

The cafeteria food is lousy and when i mean lousy, i mean it. With its lousiness you'd expect the food to be cheap, but its actually the opposite. When going through the open day one of the prefects were guiding us through the classes, we asked if the canteen food has a lot of choices... he/she said yes...But everyday the canteen food is always the same... and this is what the students eat every school day.. Another thing is the mac's there... i actually laughed when i heard they use windows for their macs... but leaving out all that... the teachers there is very experianced and good. They make lessons more understandable and they are always willing to help students who do not understand... except for some teachers... the discipline there is quite good also...

Earlier l planned to send my kid after graduate from kindergarten either to SriKL or USCI as we are leaving around Subang Jaya. After my wife and I reviewed both schools we decided to send my kid to SriKL. Somehow, my wife give me an info about APS which we never heard before, but the location is in Ara Damansara, not too far but it's terrible traffic especially in the morning. We went there to get more information, and somehow my kid feels comfortable and looks happy with that. Facilities is about the same with SriKL, curriculum is similar too and the positive thing is there many extra curriculum for moslem which it's more important for parents like us. Overall, I am satisfied and we decided to move to Ara Damansara to minimize jam. It's worth. #we are from Bandung, Indonesia.

The teachers and facilities are great. Extra curriculum offered is a bonus. The canteen foods improved recently. Although not really good but better compare to previous years. Need to improve the transport provider. Need to engage with new service company rather than maintaining the current company for so many years.
