About

ELC International School

Since its establishment in 1987, elc International School has unwaveringly pursued a single objective: the development of its students into confident and responsible young men and women who attain the highest levels of success academically and in all facets of their lives. Fulfillment of this objective is proven not just by the school’s continuing record of academic excellence, but also in the many other achievements of its students after school. The three core values of elc International School are embedded in its name — “excellence in everything we do”, “loyalty to each other and the School” and “commitment to continuous improvement”.

These values are enhanced by the school motto “Learn to Aspire” and students are encouraged to aspire to succeed in reaching their personal, social and academic potential. A traditional ethos, an environment conducive to learning and character building as well as preparation for the responsibilities, opportunities and challenges of adulthood are essential elements in the school’s approach. However, the school also encourages positive parental involvement as this provides the students with a sense of security which is a foundation for good learning!

WThe School’s CEO and founder, Mrs. Margaret Kaloo picks up with, “However, whilst we view ourselves as a rather “traditional” school and we are proud of our traditional values, this in no way means our teaching focuses on the teacher being the controller of the learning environment or that the lesson’s content and delivery are considered to be most important and students master knowledge through drill and practice such as rote learning. The development of skills and the nurturing of inquiring attitudes are at the heart of everything we do. We therefore work hard to provide the students with an atmosphere conducive to real learning. We believe that the perfect environment in which to learn will depend less on expensive facilities and much more on the atmosphere we, as teachers cultivate! We are aware that cultivating such an atmosphere involves being aware of what our students are thinking, what their interests are, and what they need in order to accomplish their goals”.

While the education in this school is excellent they are not respectful of religious beliefs. My nephew who is a Sikh was asked to remove his beard although it is religiously accepted globally. This leaves me with a very poor opinion of this school and what kind of values would be taught and respected. They are arrogant in their approach.

Not a good place to work. Management will squeeze as much as they can from you. Watch out, teachers.

Luckily, didn't put my children into this school. Very inconvenient and out of nowhere, serve for those staying nearby. Admin lady very proud, praise no better int'l school than this. I think she might no way out in the city, working and remaining here forever. With such fees, so many better int'l schools offer in KL and PJ.

Horrible school. Staff is really bad, the teachers are rude and arrogant and the location is bad too. They only focus on academics and doesn't give any focus on music and arts. Also, its old school which in my opinion, is bad. Even government schools allow phones in class without it being taken and even use laptops. In modern day Society everyone is using tech. In jobs and in homes. If children arent learning how to use tech in good ways and in educational ways, how are they going to adapt. Overall, bad school. If you are on a budget, then go ahead but there are better schools around the same price that have a better campus, teachers and HAVE TECH.

School is small and way of teaching is a bit old school. Teachers are usually quite strict on students’ behaviour and studies. ELC students are more well behaved than other international schools‘. It’s a decent place to study, not as fancy as other international schools.

I have 2 boys studying in elc interational school in Sungai Buloh since 2014. Both are very happy. elc International School has consistently measured up with Alice Smith & GIS in terms of # of A/A*s in IGCSE. In the latest 2017 IGCSE results, elc (Sungai Buloh campus) has 71% A/A*, Alice Smith 70% A/A*, Garden International School 69% A/A*. As an GIS old-boy, I have no regrets sending my youngest 2 to elc - it's value for money for the same type of academic results you would get in Alice Smith & GIS.

ELC is a good school. I have 2 kids there and they enjoy it so much. The teachers are nice. I also consider for very long time before I enrolled my kids in this school cos I saw a lot of bad comments from elc parents in 2009. But it's an old issue. I talked to the existing parents in Elc now n the old issues were no longer existed. Elc is a good school in term of reasonable school fee, nice teachers and environment.
