Sri Utama International School Johor Bahru

Utama International School (UIS) offers British School curriculum for the kindergarten, primary and secondary classes. It was opened on September 1994 and is one of the Sri Utama Schools. It has also established UIS in Johor Bahru in 2003. It is a co-educational institution, and boarding is available. Student accommodation includes hostel rooms with six beds and includes five meals per day, laundry service, security and supervision by resident housemaster or matron.

UIS uses the British Curriculum, with English as the medium of instruction. Other languages are also offered (including Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin).
It offers both O-Levels - International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) - and A-Levels - British General Certificate of Education (GCE).

Students at Sri Utama have access to a variety of academic and co-curricular facilities which are aimed at providing students the very best of both worlds.

The facilities at Sri Utama campuses include a network of classrooms and learning spaces which are air-conditioned and equipped with interactive tools such as the smartboard technology and full wi-fi coverage. The outdoor and indoor sporting facilities include a swimming pool and playing fields for students.

Teaching Quality :

School size is okay but lacking in facilities like proper cafeteria, proper hall with stage, proper classroom furniture and proper modern training aids, like computer projector, etc. Best of all the school lacks proper and qualified teachers for international students! Many have no experience in dealing with different cultures. They expect all students to behave like Malaysians, and refuse to understand and accept differences in opinions and certain behaviours. Students who voice out opinions are put down and viewed as rude. Obviously, these teachers have not been trained in teaching methodolgies and social theories from established educationists. The choice of teachers in the school, I think is the MAIN problem.
