About

About

The British International School of Kuala Lumpur

BSKL has over 1,000 students covering Early Years, Primary and Secondary, including Sixth Form. It follows a globally respected curriculum based on the English National Curriculum, and thinks beyond traditional education to transform learning. In 2016 BSKL was graded as excellent in all areas of educational provision by the Independent Schools Inspectorate; a result that is comparable to that of many top UK independent schools and is unprecedented in Malaysia.

Students achieve excellent exam results, out-performing many of their UK counterparts. In the last academic year 82% of students achieved A*/A and 94% A*/B grades in all of their GCSE examinations. These academic achievements are also matched by the younger students in the SATS (Standardised Assessment Tests), with BSKL far outperforming the UK national average. A range of rich academic resources complement the fabulous and modern campuses where children can develop as their own individuals, and instill a deep sense of achievement through a broad range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities.

There is a 9-a-side covered sports field, three indoor sport halls, two swimming pools and two full size football fields. The music and performing arts programmes have a 650-seat theatre and over 20 specialist music and dance rooms. Three libraries cater for everyone with over 20,000 books and unique learning areas, and the latest technology features strongly throughout the school. In September 2016, a brand new Secondary campus opened onsite, which provides a modern, spacious and stimulating environment for the older students, including the Sixth Form. The new campus incorporates the latest ideas and up-to-date features such as a 3D printing room and creative breakout spaces, creating one of a kind opportunities.

I will not write a review about this school but I will write about the two teachers from the school whom was in the same lift I was in when I was with my 14 year old son. We were in the lift and there was a couple in the lift (going up to block E1 29th floor, Bukit Utama 1 Condo) and they were teachers from BIS. One of the teacher uses her feet to press the lift button to close the door and obviously her dirty sport shoes have stepped in many places with bacteria all over it. I mentioned to her nicely that she should not use her dirty feet /shoes to try press the buttons and its showing a bad example to kids or young children that they can do that too. Children learn and copy especially from teachers. Instead of apologising she was being sarcastic and said: "Oh did I mess up the buttons?" and mentioned that she is doing the right thing pressing the lift button with her dirty shoes is ok, and also said in a very sarcastic way "oh so nice to meet u too "...and her boyfriend or husband whom is also a teacher said in a very sarcastic way... Thank you for being polite. I would appreciate it, if you teachers from BIS would like to rent condo units from Bukit Utama Condo please to help keep the place clean and do not dirty or vandalise our beautiful property. I also appreciate it if you are teachers from any school too please show a good example to children on how to keep the place clean and proper especially with so many hand foot and mouth disease cases spreading around. Just remember when you use your dirty feet /shoes trying pressing the lift buttons others uses their hands n fingers, this is so unhygienic especially for little children. I hope that in BIS not all teachers open and close the lift doors by lifting their legs up and kick the open or close lift button to operate the doors. Thank you.

(British International is fairly good.) I strongly would NOT recommend Havil International School as their academic system is AOP which is not internationally recognised and not in depth. Also, it lack of co-curricular activities and their fees are unnecessary very expensive which doesn't suit their lack of facilities. It also have a bad discipline record. Parents and Expats can come to see it for yourselves in Havil International School at Brickfields, KL.

After evaluate more than 10 international school, finally we picked this one. It comes with appropriate number of students, 70% international. All the major teachers comes from British as I aware of. Top 3 expensive, but also No.1 in 2018 IGCSE (76% A* ~A, compare to 20% as British average). Very strong on the swimming and other sports.

One of the best school in Kuala Lumpur. Even though it's not cheap. It actually pays it self with excellent teachers and facilities. I recommend this school to everyone. PS: Please avoid the hate and off topic reviews because they don't talk about the school itself.
