About

Wesley Methodist International School KL

Sekolah Methodist Wesley or Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) was originally known as Kolej Methodist Sentul Campus. The Presidential Task Force set up by the Methodist Church in Malaysia in 1976, recommended that the character of Methodist Private Schools, which had provided a second chance for dropouts from the government system, be transformed, in order to provide quality education.

Implementing such a proposal entailed identifying persons of calibre and dedication. To accept the challenge, Mrs F. R. Bhupalan, a well known educationist, responded to the call, and, with the assistance of Mr J.B. Vanniasingham as Director of Studies and Mr David Gunaratnam as Deputy Principal, Methodist College Brickfields was established.

The College made its debut in January 1983 offering places for students from Form 1 to Form 5. Simultaneously GCE A-Level classes in Science and Arts were introduced. There were also the students of Methodist High School to be phased out. It was an arduous task coordinating three different types of curriculum under one roof with a mixed bag of teachers and limited resources. Its evolution into what it is today was a slow process.

As early as 2003, noticing the potential and enthusiasm in the young students, the Principal was inspired to embark on yet another building project to provide the children with better facilities. After much discussion and planning, the Management Board, with the blessings of Bishop Datuk Dr Peter Chio and the Council of Education, decided to go ahead with this project to put up a five storey block with the best possible facilities that are expected in a top-notch private secondary school to provide a conducive and spacious environment for the students to maximize their potential. This building project (a five storey block) comprising classrooms, Science Labs, Computer Labs, Staff Rooms, a Conference Room, Administration Office, Sick Bay and a large Multipurpose Hall with Elevator Service was started in 2005.

The school is one of the most sought after Private Secondary Day Schools in the country, with hundreds of aspiring students being turned away each year because of lack of places.

Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) takes pride in providing a well balanced all-round education with strong emphasis on character development based on good moral values, culminating in academic excellence with a high standard of discipline. For Wesley Methodist School, with these two dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable educationists at the helm, the best is yet to be.

Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) will continue to strive to be

The management staff of the enrollment is very poor, yawning at work, a lazy look, and ignoring the students who go to help.

Most teachers are lazy and unprepared for class. Really bad experience for students. My English teacher for one, comes into class totally unprepared and makes us watch YouTube videos. Always looking for reasons to waste time. Pathetic.

This school is a clickbait. If you are a student at this school, be extra vigilant and beware of scams. I have recently fallen victim to a "Leadership Camp" which turned out to be a "Christian Camp". Not that I'm against Christianity, but this is just clickbait and false advertisement. As a result, I was scammed of RM760. Great school.

This is not as it was before. It's getting worse. They tend to overcharge us at everything and making students play unreasonable amount like RM1 for a hotdog. What is this. Somemore the management is getting real lazy, I don't even know what they are doing and it's a very bad place for students. Please don't come here. It's getting worse and worse even teachers are leaving.

If I could rate no stars, I would. The school is just increasing its fees while there are no big changes happening to this school. Enforcing unnecessary rules and expensive food, you are really not getting your money's worth. Please consider any other school before enrolling your children into Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur.

Now the school wanna charge each concert participant RM120 for the costume!!! It is a waste of money and resources!!! We pay RM120 each just to get tailored made costume for one concert. And then you don’t wear it anymore coz it is way too fancy, showy, or unfit to be worn in the public. Next year you pay another sum of money for new costumes. So, at east 500 Students x RM120 each = RM60000 gone every year. This money could have been used for good cause. Worst still the costumes go to the landfill and these plastics (polyesters) pollute the soil, water, plants and animals, and humans!!! What’s the point of studying science when we don’t even learn from it and do what’s right so as not to destroy the Earth? This is supposed to be a GREEN SCHOOL!!! They should recycle if possible, eg the choir costumes. Why do you need different costume for each year?

Number of good teachers are decreasing. And the school makes no effort to hire better ones. Luke 6:40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone is fully trained will be like their teacher. Why install TV in canteen. We don't need to show off our achievements. Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle;be patient bearing one another with love. Food is so expensive and small potion. Psalm 136:25 He gives food to every creature, his love endures forever. Furthermore, please fix this school. P.S. You can ask T-Series to give a shout out to you so u can get more students. P.P.S. When you have more students, remember to reduce your school fee.

(all in my humble opinion) Not very worth it for its fees. It may be renowned as a good school with lower than average prices, but my stay here thus far has been far from pleasant. Not all, but some preceptors are undedicated and educate pupils halfheartedly. Certain educators do deserve commendation for their passion to teach and the effort they put into their craft. Notwithstanding, within the crowd of these zealous teachers, I find the majority of them not capable of hammering knowledge into students. That to say, they are not very proficient at actually teaching. The prices of the food in the canteen are somewhat unreasonable, with a few defined items priced fairly, while the rest unjustifiable. The school hosts various clubs to attend to the need of the students, one of them known as the Interact Club. This particular society absolutely hoards money, to go so far as to induct events with sky-high prices. A recent event, Colour Strike, an activity where pupils are grouped into several factions to duke it out with water guns. It seems like quite an enthralling bash, enabling students to play alongside their fellow schoolmates while relieving stress. Unfortunately, the cost for 4 people alone is (if I recall) at least RM50. You may be thinking, who would be idiotic enough to attend such an overpriced game? Here I answer your question, the students of Wesley Methodist. A portion of the students have been spoiled to the brink, where they find RM50 to be a small amount of money. [and that my friends is how stupid this school is .from the school itself to the students. smh don't even know why im here. it's absolutely degrading to be known as a student. i discourage sending ur child here... parents please reconsider ur options. ill be honest, pretty new here and already hating it. many flaws to be fixed]

It's pretty interesting that quite a number of teachers, mostly relatively new, are leaving within short periods of time over the years. I've heard that up to 13 new teachers would be employed by the school this year due to this. It sure seems pretty odd for that many teachers to leave if the quality of the school, especially management wise is as splendid as I've heard back then.

I gave a bad review a while ago because I was getting pretty sick of the school and some of the changes, but my review was mostly fueled on my passionate hate for said changes. I'm redoing my review. People were getting pretty heated up for the infamous John Wesley statue that was going to be built with 60k that could've been used for other things. Whoever's idea it was, I don't know why he/she/they came up with that?? I'm trying not to be salty here, but honestly, that statue was a terrible idea. Good thing the idea got cancelled :l As for my learning experience so far as a student in Wesley, it's okay at best, I guess? If you ask me to pinpoint a certain problem in the entire school system, I wouldn't be able to. One problem I can think of is maybe a few of the teachers? Since I obviously don't know all the teachers, I can only speak for some. I have a couple of teachers who can't really control the class (but my class is rEALLY rowdy oops) and so class often gets disrupted or people can't hear the teacher and some people miss out. That is probably (or definitely) my class' fault though. Another teacher I have has taught at the school for 30+ years. I don't think she's a good teacher, or at least a good lower sec teacher. she has a "tanduk system" (does anyone know who i'm talking about) which is terribly flawed, but i don't want to explain for the next 30 minutes about how stupid it is, and she also doesn't properly mark our books?? my answers are literally WORLDS different from my friend's and we both get full marks. my other friend also once used google translate for an entire essay but managed to still get an A+. The only reasonable excuse to her not being fired yet is because she teaches upper sec well, and I'm not even sure of that. Other reasons would be she has taught for long so she's automatically considered as a "good" teacher or whoever is supposed to deal with her is too scared too. pleAse just fire her or let her keep on teaching upper sec. I can't stand her. also, something personal i'm a bit offended about is that she literally couldn't remember my name and stared at my nametag which I covered and then resorted to refer to me as "kAmU!!1!" and pointed at me. mind you, it's september. she had nine months to remember my name, thank you very much. it came off as rude to me, honestly. i mean, she could've just asked me what my name was, right? but nO. yOu HaVe tO sHouT At tHe kiD y'know because that's the oNLy logiCaL cHoIce not like i'm gonna embArRaSs myself by not remembering some kid's name pfft no are you delusional other than the minority of bad teachers, the other teachers are fine. just a majority can't control my class. the ones that have managed to get my class to shut up for a full period (or two) like Madam Lai, Ms Anne and Mr Simon (Chio, not Wong; Wong is veeeeery chill -- too chill sometimes :/ ) are amazing. i hope they continue to teach at wesley for a long time. some other problems i guess would be school activities? i personally don't get affected much since i don't participate in most school events, but concert cast, choir and ensemble missed classes in the beginning of the year due to soundcheck. sometimes student also miss their breaks for practice, too. speaking of break, the food is actually kind of expensive? if you eat a lot, you're going to need 50 ringgit or more per week. something else i would consider a problem is the relationship between students. there is a lot of drama in the school (which i'm not very updated on at all) but one obvious problem would be bullying. I feel like other than a few announcements of "help us catch some bullies" there isn't a lot done about the situations. it would be good if they let the counselors talk about these topics sometimes. other than some teachers that i can't stand, i think the school is... okay? most problems that i've stated don't affect me that badly, so i can't say for sure. there are better schools out there, but wesley isn't the worse option. just be a good kid and don't cause trouble, and you can survive here.

Some might say that the school's standards have declined, they might be true or wrong, but it's all down to their personal perspectives and their affections towards the school, also to mention that the freedom of speech is always appreciated here. I would like to say that the school is still okay in overall, that the standards and meters are still on par, as before. The only thing is that there has been many changes in the school that might satisfy or dissatisfy the society here in the School. For what I think, perhaps we are currently in the stage of transition that we have to re-accept the new way of the running of the school, although this might be hard for most of us. Yes, people complain, but people do endure as well. I, one of the members of this School's community, trying to be as neutral and frank, think that the school still keeps to its best and its ethos even until now (though most of us might not notice it just yet): it's just that it's in a different manner and a varied style. So, all in all, I think it's better to be less conservative and more open-minded to consider what the school has to offer for everyone, rather than complaining and doing any actions which are less constructive for the betterment of all in the School at this point of time. Keep the spirit up, Wesleyans! Above and Beyond!

Very good school. It's got less facilities eg gym, swimming pool etc compared to others but the students are here to study and not to buff up or swim are they! Very strict entry requirements have ensured a crop of decent standards amongst their student population. Nice balance of curricular and extra curricular activities in the students daily interaction

Despite having a few teachers who were rotten apples (thankfully they have since left the school), the IGCSE is probably the best in Malaysia. The principal says in the assembly that 40% of the last batch of IGCSE students are eligible for 100% scholarship in MCKL. That is a feat like no other and I'm glad my child is studying there.

As a parent of three children in this school, and from what I have observed about them, I must say this is the school that you should go to if you wish your kids to develop good values and character. There are so many good behaviours they displayed within our family dynamics which I really admired. When I questioned them, they said they learnt that in school. I am so thankful for Wesley. I must say previous bad reviews are totally not true and I believe that they were written by students who have been disciplined by the school.
